Look at how the wind blows the leaves about on the ground.Hold up fluffy dandelion heads and see if the wind blows the seeds away.Turn to face the wind and turn away from the wind feeling the wind on their faces and try to work out which direction it was coming from.Watch the long lawn grasses and see how they bends in waves like the sea.See how fast the clouds are passing overhead.Watch branches and notice that they sway and bend in the wind.We’ve listed below some of our favourite windy day things to do and hope you’ll have a lot of fun with these ideas too. There’s so much that we as adults can bring into our children’s experiences through chatting together to introduce them to new ideas and new things to see. It’s so lovely to be able to enjoy being outside and spending time together in the wind. So let’s really make the most of blustery, gusty, windy days and get outside with these super activities to develop kids observation and stretch their thinking and problem solving skills. I guess we’ve all thought of flying kites but there’s so many more things to do with kids on windy days that will help develop their observational skills and encourage them to investigate the world around them. Do your kids love windy days? Ours do and we notice that they’re often a little more excitable and fidgety when it’s blustery outside too! It’s easy to just take windy days for granted and let them pass by without much special attention.
